Dr. Benjamin Willett, ICS Chief Engineer, will be giving a presentation in the Agile Development theme, entitled
Speed is a Weapon! Agile in Hybrid Cloud to Go Fast.” The synopsis of this presentation follows:

The pace of change, particularly in IT-related disciplines, is accelerating. New capabilities can be delivered to end-users in extremely short timespans.  In the commercial world, this means happy customers and increased revenue.  In the defense sector, this not only means increased competition from within the industry, but also from the adversary.  The moniker of ‘every business is an IT business’ is especially true for defense, particularly in the realm of increasingly serious cyber threats.  In this talk, we review the current state of the cloud computing ecosystem available to defense partners.  We present objective metrics and data to show how hybrid cloud helps to break down barriers, increase deployment speed and reduce risk.  We also show how utilizing state-of-the-art capabilities offered by clouds today can help you go faster, project power, and enhance the security of our nation.

The presentation given by ICS Chief Digital & Innovation Officer, Thomas Brazil, is entitled “Benefits of the New ISO 56000 Innovation Management Standards: Ensuring a Vibrant and Ready Innovative Force Across Officer, Enlisted and Civilian Ranks.” The synopsis follows:

As they did for ISO 9001, Federal government and DoD acquisition officers are looking at the new ISO 56000 Innovation Management standards for incorporation into the FAR. The goal of ISO 56000 is to ensure a common language of innovation, and a shared understanding of ideation, tools, methods and processes to ensure effective and efficient innovation efforts with consistent outcomes. Collaborative innovation will occur more naturally when Enlisted, Officers and Civil Servants have a common understanding of the language of innovation and working knowledge of different use-cases in which various tools and methodologies apply. Applying ISO 56000 Standards for the management of innovation is a risk mitigation approach that facilitates a more rapid time to value without impeding creativity.

Nearly 4000 attendees, speakers, and exhibitors participated in the AFITC 2018, while the trade show hosted over 170 companies who showcased cutting edge products, services, and information to help further the public/private partnership crucial in keeping our country safe and secure.
