Legislating Cybersecurity

Just when you thought it would never be safe to go back into the governmental waters again, bipartisan support for new cybersecurity policy could give you hope that the government is actually here to help. No need to bet the farm on it, but it might be okay to let a little optimism seep into your conversations around the water cooler. That is, of course, if you can get around the name: the DOTGOV Online Trust in Government Act. The irony is palpable. More information is available here.

It might be safe to assume that the sense of urgency surrounding this legislation is the increasing number of municipalities and local governments that have fallen prey to ransomware attacks, but the emphasis of the act is making the .gov domain more broadly available with enhanced security.

Statistically speaking, you’re probably not a local government, though ICS does work with federal and state agencies and contractors. And if you’re not a local government, what is the takeaway from this development? Well, if Congress—a body not normally known for action—is paying attention to cybersecurity, don’t you think you should be?

Getting To Yes

ICS uses industry-leading technologies to audit and assess your security program. Where weaknesses are discovered, we can further assess the vulnerability of your network infrastructure and, using ethical hackers, attempt an attack on the identified vulnerabilities.

We keep the information flowing securely, so call ICS today and let’s get to work.
